hi jugernaut,

you need to find a uv sterilizer to help you with that.

i have this one and it works great: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...4&pcatid=13954

How long has the tank been set up?

Take a white cup and scoop up some water. Does the water have a green tinge, or is it cloudy like mixing milk with water?

If it's a little green, you have green water algae. You need to either do a blackout, use a UV sterilizer, or a diatom filter.

If it's milky (white), then leave the tank alone. It's a bacterial bloom that will take a short while to resolve itself.

Once you balance out the number of plants and the light you have, you should switch it off. UV sterilizer bulbs are expensive. I'd only run it when I need it.
